Happy retail employees

Why EE?

Join us and you'll get much more than a job

So, you’re thinking about working for the biggest and fastest network in the UK (and one of the Sunday Times Best Big Companies to Work For.) Smart move. Because we’ve got a lot to offer you. Great perks. Great support. And great opportunities. We know we’ll only achieve our company vision if our people are happy and have everything that they need to work to the best of their ability.

So we’re dedicated to making EE an outstanding place to work for our 15,000 employees. We’re focused on finding and keeping the most talented people, and investing in them so everyone can be the best they can be. And we’re proud to say that our commitment to our employees has been recognised both through external awards and through our own internal survey.

We’re Engaged

We’ve recently found out that we’ve been awarded three stars by Best Companies for our outstanding levels of employee engagement. But we don’t just leave it to the outside world. We also use Pulse – our own internal engagement survey – to see how our people feel about working here and where we need to improve.

After several years of transformation, we’re getting some of the best results ever from Pulse. For the first time, eight of the nine factors that the survey measures either equalled or beat their previous high scores. Our people left us some 16,000 comments – and we read every one so we can make sure we’re improving the things that will really make the difference to our teams.

The top things they love about working here are:

  • Their team and the people they work with
  • The reward package they receive
  • Working for a company to be proud of
  • The environment, atmosphere and culture
  • Having real opportunities to grow and develop

Equal Opportunities

Here at EE, we recognise differences and celebrate diversity within our company, understanding and respecting that we all have different beliefs and live our lives in different ways. We’re proud that our employee mix reflects our wider communities as it helps us to understand our customers better and give them a truly brilliant service. And we strive to create a supportive and inclusive working culture that helps our people balance work with their lifestyle – allowing them to reach their potential.

We want to make sure that everyone has the same chance to develop and grow their skills. We’ve pledged our support to the WorkingMums Top Employers’ Charter, which helps parents continue to progress their careers while managing the challenges of family life. And because we’re all about making EE a great place to work for everyone, we do everything we can to ensure that those with disabilities get a level playing field.

Our Values

As part of the BT family, we use the power of communications to make a better world. We bring the best networks, technology and people together to create great experiences for our customers. We work under three values that shape our culture and help ensure our people at EE and BT are aligned, engaged and inspired to be the best they can be. They came from listening to our customers and our colleagues. And what they told us led us to our values: Personal, Simple, Brilliant.

Personal

We come across as human beings. We show we understand and care. We respond to what our customers want.

Simple

We’re straightforward and easy to deal with. We make complex things clear.

Brilliant

We’re ingenious. We lead the way in creating new things. Whatever we do, we do it really well.

These values show us the right thing to do, the right way to behave and they guide our decisions at every level. They convey an energetic, aspirational – and realistic – culture that not only works for our people, but for our customers too.

Benefits

We want to recognise and reward the great work you do in a way that suits you best.

So we offer a competitive salary and 25 days' holiday (pro rata) a year. And, depending on your role, you may be part of a generous bonus/commission plan.

Learning and Development

We’re all about developing our people so they can reach their full potential. From your first day, you’ll be provided with all the support you need to really make an impact at EE. We offer a solid induction and intensive training programmes across the company. And once you’re in a role, we want to help you be the very best you can be and achieve your career goals. Whether that means being the very best you can be, broadening your skills in another function, or taking your career to the next level – we’ll be there supporting you along the way, giving you the tools and guidance that you need to make the most out of your career at EE.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

At EE, we’re all about playing our part in building a better Britain. Through the connectivity we offer on our mobile and fixed networks we have the ability to transform the everyday lives of people up and down the country. And we’ve taken big steps to make sure that we’re a trusted business, too. From investing millions in improving our service and reducing our carbon emissions, to doing our best to keep children safe online – we’re constantly striving to make EE more responsible.

Connecting people is at the heart of what we do. And we’re determined to close the digital divide, encouraging the unconnected to get online through our community-led activities like Techy Tea parties and Techy Time in schools. Another one of our key initiatives is our award-winning apprenticeship programme. It helps young people into work and allows them to gain new skills and nationally recognised qualifications that’ll lead to a fulfilling and rewarding career. And with contact centres and retail stores all over the country, we’re able to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate.

Our employees have plenty of scope to do their bit for the wider world too. Each person gets two days’ leave to volunteer, EE’s support for any fundraising (including a fund-matching scheme) and the chance to support charities through our award-winning Payroll Giving scheme. A recent one-off Payroll Giving option for Unicef’s efforts in Nepal raised some £6,000. Overall, EE’s 10-year partnership with Unicef has generated about £5.5m.

Awards

Awards are always nice. But it’s knowing that our hard work has been recognised – and that it’s had a positive impact on our people – that really counts.

Sunday Times Best Big Companies

Sunday Times Best Big Companies

We’re delighted to have placed 7th in The Sunday Times’ Best Big Company to work for list. This is the fourth year in a row that we’ve made the top 25, but this time we’ve jumped up 6 places and into the top 10. That makes us the most improved company in the list and, once again, we’ve also been highly commended for our Giving Something Back programme, too.

EE’s always been a great place to work. But this year we’ve really stepped up our personal development support, made sure out benefits package is spot on and that everyone in the business has visibility of the company’s leadership and direction. And this award goes to show that keeping our people happy, motivated and engaged is key to our success.

Best Companies 3 Star Award

Best Companies 3 Star Award

We’re extremely proud to have been awarded the Best Companies 3* Accreditation for outstanding workplace engagement. We know, from speaking to our people, that they’re engaged and happy thanks to the friendly, open culture, the benefits and rewards they receive along with the opportunities we give them to grow.

From the prestigious Investors in Young People Silver Accreditation, to being named Best Apprentice Employer at the Apprenticeship Regional Awards, we’re proud to have received a variety of awards for our commitment to the training and development of young people.

We also recently triumphed in three categories at AllAboutSchoolLeavers.co.uk’s Top 100 Employers for School & College Leavers 2016-17 Awards, ranking #4 in Top Advanced Apprenticeship Employers, #5 in Top 100 Employers for School & College Leavers and taking the award for Best Company Culture.

Business Disability Forum (BDF)

We want everyone to be able to get connected and enjoy the brilliant benefits that technology can bring. This year, we’ve achieved a Silver Award from the Business Disability Forum (BDF) for our work in making improvements across the organisation, with our overall score increasing from 73% to 80.57%. We’re thrilled to have progressed from a Bronze Award, which we’ve received for the previous two years demonstrating the continuous improvements we’re making.
